Forward Movement

I’m struggling right now. Struggling to protect a community I love and adore. Struggling to find the words to articulate what I think, don’t think or haven’t given thought to about an issue that I’ve worked so hard ( and successfully so ) to make a relative non-issue for me. And yet, here it is, staring me in the face, and I realize, regardless of what I have to say about it, I simply can’t win.

FlashBelt 2009

FlashBelt 2009

Just got back from this year’s FlashBelt conference in Minneapolis. I’ll start by saying thanks, Dave, for having me - and for everyone who attended my session.  I had some really great conversations resulting from my session - and I think thats more than I could ask for. Now here starts FlashBelt according to me:

FOT 2009 - Aftermath

FOT 2009 - Aftermath

Whew.  Managed to upload a just a few of the pictures I have from FOT 2009 to my Flickr account tonight after spending some time not wanting a beer after Flash on Tap in Boston. As I failed miserably to blog during the event, here goes nothing with my version of the event…

Communication Arts

Communication Arts

The 15th Interactive Annual is out from Communication Arts - and I’m honoured to have been part of the fine judging panel.  You can check out this years winners at the Communiation Arts site or check out what I had to say about traditional advertising in the digital space.  Some of the work from the winners is just exceptional with a big shout out to my friends and family at Big SpaceShip and Driftlab - congratulations guys!

Let there be beer

Let there be beer

Boston. Beer. Flash. Seems like it could potentially be my skewed version of heaven that I’m about to enter in just a few short weeks. If you haven’t heard about Flash on Tap - where the hell have you been? With only a few weeks to go - you best get a move on and get your ass down. I can’t promise, but I’ll do my best to make sure someone breakdances and that its not me. No one needs to see that.

FITC Wrap up

FITC Wrap up

Its been nearly a week since FITC in Toronto, and I think I’ve needed exactly that amount of time to recover. Every day was packed full - so here’s my take on FITC 2009 - I’ll omit the questionable pictures and footage till I’m emotionally detached enough not to care. :)It started with a roadtrip. Hop in the bug and drive the 4 hours to Toronto from Ottawa on the Friday night. Friday night was spent at the Beer Market on King Street with some old university friends and if I could remember more than that, I’d surely share it…

Dear Students

Dear Students

This week, is the last week of the spring semester at the local Ottawa college - Algonquin, where I am often found teaching part time in the Interactive Multimedia program. I’m looking forward to the end, as much as I was looking forward to its start. People like to abuse the phrase ” those who can’t do, teach“. I’m pretty sure I’d toss my rich family lineage of fine Ukrainian farming tradition to the wind and bet everyone’s farm on the fact that whoever coined that phrase, never taught.

FITC Amsterdam

FITC Amsterdam

Thought I would do a re-cap of Amsterdam, or at least my somewhat censored version of it.

This was my first year at the conference, and the first time I have been to Amsterdam. My personal hell started with a connecting flight from Washington ( Dulles airport, probably the most boring airport I have had the pleasure of passing time in ) to Amsterdam.

Blog Refresh

Blog Refresh

Yes this blog looks beyond ugly and well, rather default. I’ll be doing a blog refresh this week, - one step at a time with the migration process. So hopefully by the end of the week I’ll have something a little bit more like me :)

ActionScriptHero Interview

ActionScriptHero Interview

Completely out of date, but figured I’d throw it out there anyways - I was recently interviewed by ActionScriptHero. It gives a decent insight into that inevitable question I always get - ” so what exactly do you do?” and kinda gives you a sense of my, um, personality..It truly is a complete honour.
